Donations

One of the main goals of Monte de Piedad has been to support other welfare private institutions that offer protection, health and education to the children, young, old and sick people who don’t have enough monetary resources, through humanitarian and welfare donations.

Before 1994, due to the financial situation of the country, the welfare and humanitarian labor of the Nacional Monte de Piedad was depressed. But due to the financial recovery of the institution, the Board of Trustees has been able to rescue the social welfare task of Nacional Monte de Piedad, having given important donations to more than 800 private welfare institutions in the country. Thus the will of the founder 233 years ago for this institution is being accomplished: “To perform social welfare activities by itself or through other institutions in order to help the economically weak social groups within Mexico.”

In the last seven years, the Nacional Monte de Piedad has donated more than 1.4 billion pesos ( 1 billion= 1000 millions). This amount makes Nacional Monte de Piedad the most important contributor for private social welfare in Mexico.
