1. Can you tell me the customer support hours?

The customer support hours are from 8:30 to 14:30. Some of our offices have an extended schedule, giving service from 15:30 to 17:30 as well.

3. Which are the requirements to pawn and redeem items?

To pawn an item it has to be a saleable item in excellent condition. To redeem an item the owner or co-owner must present the pawn ticket-contract within the time period specified in the document, until the day before the sale date. You must always show your official ID card.


4. What kind of items can be pawned?

Jewelry and gold watches are received in all our service centers. In some of them you can pawn several items (various), genders (new clothes in excellent condition, we don’t receive curtains), and in a few centers you can pawn vehicles. We give cash loans with mortgage security.


5. Can motorcycles, refrigerators, industrial or medical items, furniture or clothes be pawned?

We offer loans on motorcycles in the service centers that receive vehicles. The other kind of mentioned articles might be received in the big centers if we have enough space to keep the items. (Call the center first if you want to take a very big item such as a plasma screen TV)


6. Can I pawn a piece of craftwork or artistic paintings?

We can receive paintings and works of art in the office number 37 and the head office. We are still waiting for the publication of the conditions to receive antiques.


7. Can I have a private valuation?

The valuations at home are classified in the following areas: commercial, base for sale, for insurance and testamentary. You can call our head office to get the valuers’ department or outside Mexico City, you can call the corresponding office and ask if there is any valuer that can visit your home. We charge 1% on the valuation + tax. (if the item isn’t pawned we charge between 200 and 500 for transportation)


8. Can you tell me the interest rate that you charge?

We charge 4% as a monthly nominal interest on the total amount of the loan


9. How can I redeem an item owned by a relative who is absent or passed away?

If the owner of the bill cannot go to redeem the item, a relative can do it with a power of attorney (it must be signed by a notary if the loan is bigger than 1000 pesos). If the owner of the bill passed away you must show the Death Certificate and give proof of your direct kinship with him or her.


10. What can I do if I lost the redemption form?

You need to show your official ID card, proof of address of the owner of the bill and of a guarantor and inform the manager or the manager’s assistant of the loss. Then we will start a search in the system, and then a bulletin will be sent informing you the requirements to replace the bill. You will have to cover them and pay the deposit within a maximum of two weeks. This has to be done before the sale date for the collateral. We charge a 10% on the valuation + tax.


11. What are the requirements to redeem a collateral paying in the bank?

You can redeem a collateral paying in Banamex bank. In your pawn form there is a number called “linea de captura” which you have to give to the bank when you make the deposit. This has to be done approximately 10 days before the date of sale. This date is marked on the pawn form. Forty-eight hours after having paid in the bank, you must go to the office in which you pawned your item and show the pawn form, the bank receipt and your ID card. This procedure can be done in offices number 1 to 83. Subsequent offices do not offer this service.


12. Can you give me information about mortgage loans?

The mortgage department on real estate has qualified personnel to make the corresponding valuations. The address is Guty Cárdenas 121 first floor, Col. Guadalupe Inn. Phone numbers: 5662 4948/ 5662 4919/5662 4707/5662 2203. Office hours 9:00 to 15:00 and 16:00 to 18:00. This is only for Mexico City and Metropolitan Area. Land is not subject to a mortgage loan.


13. What if I’m located away from the city where I pawned the item?

You can pay in the bank (details in answer 11), or in any other office. The item can be collected the following day if you paid in the afternoon


14. Can the interest payments to keep the loan be done in any office?

These interest payments on jewelry pawns can be done in any office (up to three payments), the customer is who decides to choose paying the interests to save the collateral or not. The date and the amount of interest are marked in the pawn ticket. Every time you pay only the interest, the information of the loan is updated. If you want to redeem the collateral you can pay in any office.


15. What happens to the collateral that was not collected on time after being redeemed?

You have 10 days to collect the redeemed collateral from the Nacional Monte de Piedad. If it remains there for a longer time, you will have to pay a storage fee (1% on the valuation) starting from day eleven. The maximum limit of days to leave the collateral in storage is 70 including the first 10 for which you won’t pay a storage fee. (although the system says you have 90 days).


16. What happens to the collateral that is for sale?

When the pawn period is finished, the collateral is put up for sale. You can choose whether to recoup it buying it with a bill or to ask for the remainder of the sale. (If there was any). If the collateral hasn’t been sold yet, you must pay the interest of the period of time that has passed: 4% monthly nominal interest plus 10% on the valuation to pay sale costs.


17. Can you tell me how and when can I retrieve the remainder of my collateral’s sale?

You can retrieve the remainder if your name is on the pawn ticket, 48 hours after the sale was done, you have six months to collect the money and you can do it in any office. If the amount of the remainder is more than 1000 pesos you must give us a copy of your official ID card. You can collect the money in opening hours.

19. Can I pay in the bank the interests to save my collateral?

No, these payments can only be done in the institution’s offices within the period of time specified in the pawn ticket. (jewelry). You can pay in the bank to redeem the collateral until the due date specified in the ticket before 10:00 a.m. Your payment will be rejected if you try to pay after that hour.


20. Can the payments to redeem a collateral be done in any office?

Yes, to redeem a collateral you may pay in any office. You may also pay in the bank, nevertheless, you must go to the office where you made the pawn and present the pawn ticket and the bank receipt.


21. What if I want to recoup the collateral that is already for sale?

The protection that this institution offers you when the collateral is put up for sale is specified in the pawn ticket, and both parties have to fulfill what is established in the clauses of that contract. In this case you can ask the manager to help you to get some kind of solution.


22. May I pay with American Express in any office?

There are only some offices that will accept the payment using American Express:

If your purchase is of more than 5000 pesos you will have to show a copy of an official ID card. To redeem the collateral you must pay in cash, to buy in the shop you may use a credit or debit card as well.


23. When paying at the bank entering the corresponding number, can the cashier tell me how much do I have to pay?

They will be able to see the loan, separated from the interest. The amount that you have always to pay in the bank is the amount that is specified in the ticket.


24. How much do I have to pay to recoup my ticket?

If it is partially destroyed: 1 peso + tax, if the ticket has to be replaced 10% on the valuation + tax.

26. Can I pawn a motorcycle?

Motorcycles are accepted in the offices where you can pawn cars. 80 cm motorcycles can be accepted in the “various” area.


27. If I pay in the afternoon to redeem the collateral when can I collect it?

The following day if the shop is already closed.


28. If I pay in another office when can I collect the collateral?

If the office where you pawned the item is open you can collect it immediately

This can only be answered by the mortgage department. The customer will have to contact them.


32. How can an item be considered as an antique?

The item must be at least 100 years old. These items are now received in office 37.


33. Can I give dollars to redeem the collateral?

Yes, you must call the office first to confirm. They will give you the phone number of the nearest office. The limit is 10,000 dollars.

It must be no more than 10 years old, in excellent condition. You must show all the documents required by the institution

The economic brands that are accepted are: Seiko, tissot, citizen, orient. We don’t accept any asian brand. We accept Bulova only if it is not made in China.
